I visited MediaMarkt Tilburg to return a product, as is my right under both Dutch law and MediaMarkt’s own return policy. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and frustrating. The employee I dealt with was rude, dismissive, and refused to accept the return without valid reason. Despite my repeated requests, I was denied the opportunity to speak with a supervisor or manager, leaving me with no resolution. This behavior is unacceptable, especially from a large retailer that should uphold professional standards and respect consumer rights. I purchased the product with the understanding that I could return it if needed, as guaranteed by Dutch law (14-day cooling-off period for online purchases) and MediaMarkt’s 30-day return policy for in-store purchases. However, the employee ignored these policies and treated me with disrespect. I have since left a detailed complaint with MediaMarkt’s customer service and will be escalating this matter further if necessary. I hope this review prompts MediaMarkt to address their staff’s conduct and ensure customers are treated fairly in the future.
Top-notch customer service. They were very helpful and handled everything perfectly. I’ll definitely be back!
Be honest with people: you are no longer MediaMarkt. You’ve turned into something closer to Marktplaats. You now sell more products from third-party partners than your own, but you still present yourself as a direct retailer. When something goes wrong, responsibility suddenly disappears and customers are left stuck between bots, silence, and outsourced sellers. This company operates like a deception organization disguised as tech company. You shove customers into a useless chatbot that can’t solve anything, and when it inevitably fails, you pretend to transfer the call to a 'real human.' Let’s be honest,,,there’s nothing human about what comes next. After being told that someone would be with me shortly, I was left hanging for 16 minutes. The line appeared open, as if someone had picked up, but there was complete silence. No greeting. No explanation. Nothing. Just dead air. After 16 minutes of waiting, I finally asked, “Is anyone there? Hello?” Instead of an answer, I was greeted by an automated message telling me the conversation had ended and asking me to rate my customer service experience. So let me get this straight: no one spoke to me, no one helped me, no one even acknowledged my existence and then I’m asked to rate the service? What kind of company does this? What kind of people run a system where customers are ignored for a quarter of an hour and then brushed off by a robot? This isn’t customer service. It’s deception, incompetence, and disrespect wrapped in automation. If this is how you treat customers, you don’t deserve them.
