I'm a big fan of Kana Fujita and found out about this company... Now I go mountain climbing and use their services almost every week. I look forward to their continued growth m(_ _)m
This is the development base for YAMAP, the mountain climbing app that has taken over the stronghold of Yamareco (the wife...), a husband-and-wife operation. It's based in Fukuoka, where there aren't many good mountains. Perhaps they employ too many people, as there is a sense of pressure to make money. They are constantly selling merchandise and insurance, making it difficult to use and squeezing out non-paying users, but since there are no alternatives, non-paying users only use it sparingly. This IT company casually rips off features that Yamareco came up with and worked hard to implement. In the past, there were only bugs, but these days you only see occasional bugs. The UI is difficult to understand and aimed at young people. Since plants are posted on the map, they noticed that they were being stolen and added a disclaimer asking people not to post them, but this only made more people realize that this was an option.
Their email newsletter strategy is great and I always end up buying something from the YAMAP Store! I would be so happy if they opened even just one store in Tokyo. The Takao Mountain store was also only for a limited time. As expected, there are many failures when buying clothes online, and mountain climbing items are expensive so the damage when you make a mistake is big, so if there is a physical store I will definitely go! The private label clothes and gear are so appealing it would be nice to be able to see the actual products. I understand that it will be difficult in this era of labor shortage, but I think there will be a lot of demand in the Kanto region!
