I’ve had a deeply frustrating experience with CalFresh due to repeated administrative failures and improper evaluation of my finances, though I do want to acknowledge that one manager handled the situation professionally and respectfully. On December 19, I was called in to renew my application and told all I needed to do was submit a form, which I did in person after already speaking with an EBT representative by phone. I was told everything was complete. Weeks later, after spending an entire day calling and having my call dropped into a survey, I returned to the office to follow up. After waiting about 30 minutes, a caseworker told me to go home and come back another day, despite the delay already being two weeks. Only after I asked to speak with a manager was my situation addressed appropriately. The manager was respectful, honest, and did his best to resolve the issue and explain things clearly. He treated me like a person and did the job that should have been done correctly from the beginning, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the underlying issue remains unresolved. This is not the first time this has happened. When I previously applied on my own, I was issued only $10, then my benefits were later changed twice due to errors. Before that, when my fiancé and I were living together and working, we received $523/month, which makes the current determination difficult to understand given that my finances have worsened. I currently receive $1,900/month, while my documented expenses exceed $4,300, putting me over $2,400 in the negative each month. Despite this, I was again issued $10, which does not reflect an accurate financial review. I do not blame anyone especially not the manager, except the person who wanted to make feel unwelcome and wanted to close out my case without a genuine evaluation of my finances. I’ve also been required to repeatedly re-explain sensitive personal information because notes are not being properly retained, which is unnecessary and emba

I applied for benefits a while ago, I provided all the information requested and was told to wait, upon me completing all requests I'm still waiting after the due date to still receive nothing at all. I was under the assumption I would receive assistance. And now I'm hungry and losing my place to stay due to a severe lack of communication and effort on the offices end. Y'all friendly just not helpful

Incompetent workers. You call the number and are hung up on, when you finally are placed on hold to a worker it takes over 30 minutes to get to someone. All the people can do on the phone are send messages to the case worker and manager and they still don’t reach out after several days. Application was placed in October and still have not recieved benefits. I’m going on over 1.5 months trying to get a hold of someone to either accept or deny my case. Nothing has been done and I have not been contacted by someone within the 48hrs as the representative stated.
